Plot Summary[]
A dim-witted teenager named Ed is late for work at a burger chain called Good Burger, which was home of the Good Burger. After he accidentally angers a customer, the customer says that he’ll just wait till Mondo Burger opens. Ed doesn’t know what Mondo Burger is, so his co-workers explain to him that they had been building a new burger chain across the street from Good Burger for eight months. It would open in three days and when it did, it would become so popular, it would knock Good Burger right off the map.
Meanwhile, on the first day of summer, slacker Dexter Reed (Kenan Thompson) steals his mom’s car, because she was on a business trip in New York City. However, Ed roller-blades past Dexter’s car and ends up causing Dexter to run into his teacher’s car. Dexter has to pay an estimated $1,900 for damage so that Mr. Wheat (Sinbad) won’t call the police. Dexter is forced to get a summer job. He gets a job at Mondo Burger, which is run by an extremely strict person named Kurt Bozwell (Jan Schweiterman) but he gets fired for telling a joke. Dexter goes to Good Burger and starts ordering a bunch of milkshakes. Ed sits down with Dexter, but Dexter doesn’t recognize Ed. Dexter doesn’t take much of a liking to Ed, but Ed gets him a job at Good Burger. On the opening night of Mondo Burger, Good Burger doesn’t get a single customer. Also, all the electricity Mondo Burger was taking up for its big, bright sign causes Good Burger to lose its power. Meanwhile, Dexter sees Ed roller-blading and realizes that Ed was the one who caused Dexter to run into Mr. Wheat’s car and had ruined his summer. The next day, Dexter is eating lunch when Mr. Wheat stops by and tells Dexter that it was actually $2,500. $1,900 was an estimate. Ed sits down with Dexter and starts putting some of his homemade sauce on the Good Burger. He spills some of the sauce on Dexter by accident. Dexter tastes the sauce and realizes that it tasted really good. He has all the Good Burger employees have a fry dipped in Ed’s sauce and they all think it’s really good, including the owner of the joint, Mr. Bailey (Dan Schneider). Dexter realizes that if they start putting the sauce on the Good Burgers, they’d be back in business.
Dexter’s plan works. He then tricks Ed into signing a contract saying that he’ll get 20% of the money he made off of the sauce and Dexter would get 80%. Meanwhile, Kurt is furious about how Good Burger had got their customers back. He has an attractive worker named Roxanne (Carmen Electra) go and get Ed to go on a date with her, but what she would really do is try to get Ed to tell her what he puts in his secret sauce. Ed decides to go on the date, but he makes it a double date so that Dexter could come with a Good Burger co-worker he had a crush on named Monique (Shar Jackson). They go to play miniature golf, but when it is Kel’s turn, he accidentally (and not noticing) hits Roxanne with his golf club. Then, the golf ball gets caught in a fan and ends up flying backwards and hits Roxanne. Roxanne is unconscious, and she wakes up when Ed takes a sudden break and Roxanne’s head hits the front of the car. They arrive at Good Burger, where Dexter and Monique go take a walk. Roxanne tries to get Ed to tell her what he puts in his sauce, and tries to kiss him. Ed gets surprised and ends up throwing her to the ground. A severely injured Roxanne goes to Mondo Burger and quits her job.
The next day, Monique begins ignoring Dexter. Dexter ends up finding out that Monique found the contract he had tricked Ed into signing. Monique is angry with Dexter for taking advantage of Ed, but refuses to tell Ed what he did because Ed had trusted Dexter and it would hurt him too much. Dexter sits down with Ed, who was eating a Mondo Burger and a Good Burger. A dog arrives. Ed tries to feed the dog a Mondo Burger, but the dog doesn’t even look at it. Ed then tries to feed the dog a Good Burger, and the dog immediately eats it, even though Mondo Burger used a lot more meat than a Good Burger.
Dexter and Ed show up at Mondo Burger dressed as women. They spy on the kitchen and see that they are putting an illegal chemical in the Mondo Burgers that made the burgers grow bigger. However, Kurt catches them and sees through their disguises. He sends Dexter and Ed to Demented Hills Mental Hospital so that no one would find out what they were putting in the burgers. While Dexter and Ed are at Demented Hills, Kurt and his two goons sneak into Mondo Burger and put shark poison in Ed’s sauce. Luckily, a 77 year old man who worked at Good Burger named Otis (Abe Vigroda) sees them. He goes to call the cops, but Kurt sends him to Demented Hills, too. There, he tells Dexter and Ed what they were putting into the sauce. They realize that they had to get to Good Burger before someone eats the sauce.
Ed turns on some music and the patients begin dancing. Dexter makes the security guards dance with the patients so that Dexter can “accidentally” knock them unconscious with his dance moves. Dexter grabs the keys and escapes with Ed and Otis. A maniac throws Dexter out the window. Then, Otis and Ed follow. They run out and steal an ice cream truck. However, two people from Demented Hills follow them. Ed and Dexter start throwing ice cream at their windshield so that they wouldn’t be able to see through the glass. They end up losing them. Ed runs into Good Burger just in time to stop an old lady from eating a burger with sauce on it. They tell the workers that the sauce was poisoned. Then, Ed and Dexter run over to Mondo Burger to get a can of the chemicals so that they can prove to the police what they were doing. Ed and Dexter climb up a truck, onto a pipe, to the ceiling, up a straw, and into the restaurant. Dexter arrives in the kitchen and creates a distraction by spraying Kurt’s two goons with ketchup and mustard. The workers begin chasing Dexter, deserting the kitchen. Then, Ed sneaks in and sees a full shelf of the chemicals. However, Ed accidentally spilling an entire can of the chemical into the raw meat. Ed gets an idea and begins pouring all of the chemicals into the meat so that they could be cooked into gigantic beef patties.
Dexter gets trapped by the workers, and then Ed arrives and shows Dexter a can. However, the can Ed shows Dexter is empty. Meanwhile, Ed’s plan works. The meat is made into gigantic beef patties that begin blowing up. All the burgers exploding causes the customers to flee and Mondo Burger to be destroyed. A gigantic burger sculpture at the top of Mondo Burger accidentally falling off and onto Mr. Wheat’s car. Dexter sees Mr. Wheat trying to get the hamburger sculpture off of his car. Dexter pays him about half of the money he owed Mr. Wheat. Dexter and Ed become friends and walk to Good Burger.
Dexter and Ed are praised for what they did and Ed cheerfully says "Welcome to Good Burger. Home of the Good Burger. Can I take your order?”
