Good Burger 2 is the sequel to the 1997 film Good Burger. The movie premiered on Paramount + [1] on November 22, 2023.
Synopsis[]
26 years after the events of the first film, inventor Dexter Reed reunites with his co-worker Ed at his former workplace, Good Burger. [2]
Plot Summary[]
Ed walks into Good Burger and greets everyone including himself. He starts singing and dancing then realizes he’s dreaming when a customer wakes him up. Dexter gives a presentation to a group of potential clients, including Mark Cuban, for a product called “Burn no More”. He demonstrates the product on his house but it fails and it burns his house down. Mark drives away upset Dexter lost his money.
Dexter gets evicted and needs somewhere to crash. He pulls out a yo-yo and thinks of Ed, who gave it to him. He decides to find him and sees him driving his burger mobile down the road. Ed hits Dex but he falls into Ed’s car. Ed tells Dex how Good Burger was featured on a T.V. show, DAS Food Dude!!!.
Dex tells Mia how he’s planning on making a comeback with his business ideas. She seems doubtful. Dex goes him with Ed to crash. Ed introduces him to his kids, who all look like Ed and who are named after burger ingredients, like Mustard, Ketchup, Onion, and Pickles. His youngest, Baby BunBun, comes out in Roxanne’s hands. Roxanne explains that she’s Ed’s nanny, after Dex initially assumes she is Ed's new wife. Edie, Ed's actual wife, comes out to greet Dex as well.
Dex asks for Ed to help him get a job at Good Burger. Ed sets him up with an interview and he gets the job. Dex opens a freezer that they haven’t used in 22 years and they find Fizz, who was frozen alive but is still alive. He is surprised and shocked he’s missed 22 years but he takes it pretty well.
Dex contemplates his next business venture. While attempting to pitch his unconventional idea, "permanent ice," to Mia, she dismisses it.
Meanwhile, Ed faces pressure from Cecil McNevin, MegaCorp's legal representative, to transform Good Burger into a global franchise. Ed once made a promise he would never sell the place so he turns him down. Dex overhears and questions Ed’s decision. MegaCorp resorts to sending enforcers to coerce Ed into signing the agreement, but Ed's inherent clumsiness inadvertently thwarts their efforts.
Cecil shifts his strategy to convince Dexter, emphasizing MegaCorp's intention to expand Good Burger without displacing Ed and promising substantial raises for the employees. Intrigued by the financial prospects, Dexter considers the proposal and arranges a meeting between Ed, Cecil, and himself, leading to their eventual agreement to sign.
At the franchise launch celebration, Cecil reveals a shocking twist: the flagship store is slated for closure, and employees will be terminated as stipulated in the contract, an oversight by Dexter and Ed. Facing a backlash, Dexter takes Ed to MegaCorp headquarters to demand the reinstatement of the flagship restaurant and rehiring of the employees. They encounter Katt Boswell, MegaCorp's CEO and the vengeful sister of Mondo Burger's imprisoned owner, Kurt Bozwell. Katt plans to rebrand the restaurant as Mega Good Burger, exclusively employing robot versions of Ed. MegaCorp sabotages the Good Burger car, forcing Dexter and Ed into a self-driving delivery car gone haywire, ultimately controlled by Katt. Dexter manages to bring the car to a halt.
Frustrated by his setbacks, Dexter rallies Ed and the Good Burger employees to thwart the Mega Good Burger launch. The plan involves infiltrating MegaCorp headquarters, where Mia, a computer expert, aims to disable the machines. While the diversion unfolds, Dexter, Ed, and Mia infiltrate the building. However, their cover is blown, and Dexter and Ed, separated from Mia, locate the control room. Mia becomes trapped in a conveyor belt, prompting Dexter to search for her while leaving Ed to shut down the restaurants. Despite initial failure, it is revealed that Ed had secretly reprogrammed the machines to go haywire.
As Katt showcases Mega Good Burger on national television, Ed disrupts the demonstration, followed by machines showering food on everyone. MegaCorp collapses, and Ed regains ownership of the original Good Burger. Dexter reconciles with Charlotte, and Ed 2 discloses their successful creation of permanent ice, which Good Burger sells to Mark Cuban for a lucrative $10 million.
